Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency — but it inspired the birth of more cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin SV (BSV) is just one of the many cryptocurrencies that have emerged since the introduction of Bitcoin in 2009. The following is what you need to know about BSV.

 

What is Bitcoin SV?

BSV is a hard fork of Bitcoin cash, and Bitcoin cash itself is a hard fork of Bitcoin. It is an extension of the same original blockchain, and some modifications have been made to obtain the dual benefits of cheaper transaction costs and greater transaction capacity.

The name comes from the belief of its supporters that BSV is consistent with Nakamoto’s original vision. Nakamoto published a white paper explaining Bitcoin for the first time. But before we enter the world of BSV, we want to make a brief disclaimer. The following information is not the endorsement of Bitcoin SV, but an explanation.

 

What are the Advantages of Bitcoin SV?

BSV advocates believe that the new currency will help realize the “maximum potential” of the original cryptocurrency. It is supported by the Bitcoin Association, a non-profit organization based in Switzerland.

“The association supports Bitcoin SV as the original Bitcoin, with stable protocols and a large-scale expansion roadmap, to become a blockchain for new currencies and global enterprises in the world,” the group wrote.

 

BSV Transactions

To explain one aspect of BSV, let’s take a look at Satoshi Nakamoto. In 2009, he wrote, “the existing visa credit card network handles about 15million internet purchases worldwide every day.”

In January, 2021, the Bitcoin SV extended test network reached 9000 transactions per second. It is expected that by the end of 2021, it will demonstrate the ability of 50000 transactions per second, leading supporters to believe that it can provide power for a fast and efficient payment and trading network.

Will this become a cryptocurrency that will be adopted globally and provide impetus for the new global mainstream financial system? We don’t know yet – but BSV advocates must be excited about its potential.
