Avalanche (AVAX) Partners with FIDE to Bring Chess to the Web 3.0

Avalanche (AVAX) has partnered with the International Chess Federation (FIDE), to bring chess to the Web 3.0 era, the company said on December 23. FIDE is an international organization founded in 1924 that unites the chess associations of 200 countries, and it is in charge of organizing the World Chess Championships.

 

Avalanche will appear as sponsors at FIDE competitions as part of the cooperation. This includes the 2022 World Rapid & Blitz Championship, which gets underway in Kazakhstan on December 25.

 

But more importantly, the press announcement states that Avalanche as well as Core will contribute to FIDE’s network-based chess product development. The developer behind Avalanche, Ava Labs, will collaborate with FIDE to leverage blockchain to address chess-related issues and lessen operational shortfalls for players & federations. The alliance also intends to increase creativity, attract new players, and enhance game integrity.

 

In order to develop on-chain solutions including on-chain player rating plus tournament data administration, a historical game analyzer, and awarding prize pools as well as digital trophies on Avalanche, FIDE will make advantage of Avalanche’s subnet technology. According to Avalanche, the company will also work on introducing customized game experiences to the blockchain.

 

But it’s important to remember that before this relationship, FIDE has already ventured into Web 3.0. In a partnership with TON Labs, FIDE announced that it will become the initial global sports federation to introduce its very unique non-fungible token (NFT) platform.
